As a UI / UX designer, a lot of your value lies in the unique solutions you can provide to a business and development problem, not redrawing buttons and drop downs over and over and over. (I discuss how to focus and improve on this value in my book). But thankfully Figma is LOADED with some amazing pre-built design systems and kits that you can use in your Design Career.
Even better? Many of them are completely free to use for your own projects and your clients.
Below I’ve listed 5 Free Figma UI Kits and Design Systems that will save you time.
A UI design kit (or UI kit) or Design System is a collection of pre-designed elements that designers can use to create their own user interface designs. This saves them time and effort, since they don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time they want to build a new web or mobile application.
UI kits are usually created by companies who sell templates for websites, apps, and other software. They provide a variety of ready-made components such as buttons, icons, navigation bars, and more. These kits are often sold as part of a larger package that also includes additional features such as fonts, colors, and logos.
However, there are hundreds of UI kits available on the web, especially from the Figma Community. Some of them are free, some require payment, and some are paid. The good thing is that you don’t have to pay anything upfront. Instead, you can download the UI kit and start using it immediately.
You can use these kits to build beautiful interfaces without having to design from scratch. The only thing you’ll need to do is customize the look and layout of the elements. There are also other benefits such as saving time and effort, and allow you to better focus on the difficult questions of the UI and UX, rather than building another set of headings and buttons.

Another highly rated and many times duplicated project, the “Free Design System | UI Kit” by Elizderella has enough features and quality to make it hard to believe it’s free.
The organization in this UI Kit is well laid out, enabling you to quickly navigate to components you need under Basic Components, Images, Data Display, Navigation, and more.
From the creator: “A complete design system with over 100 components. Starting from basic ones such as buttons, checkboxes to comments and cookie windows. The system is built on Auto Layout and Variants. Much attention is paid to adaptive tables and alignments in them.”

This UI Kit is for mobile design, and though this one does have a paid option the focus is on the Free version which contains an incredible amount of design components for use. With 348 Components and 36 screens, the Nucleus iOS UI Kit / Design System has been duplicated in Figma over 13,000 times and comes with rave reviews.

As Apple releases updated versions of iOS some components of this may fall out of favour, however even then it will serve as a great starting point to get your mobile design started. This UI Kit / Design System features a staggaring amount of components given the price tag, all carefully crafted by it’s creator Joey Banks (his Twitter).
From the Creator: “I’m unbelievably excited to share this year’s iOS 15 UI Kit on the Figma Community, where my goal was to include everything one might need to begin designing. Months of fun, nerdy, creating went into this and every component has been recreated and refactored to now work even better with Figma’s Variants and updated Auto Layout features.”

And last but not least, something a little different. Specifically, a UI Kit / Design Kit with low fidelity components to assist with the ideation phase of your work. Sometimes it can be counterproductive to start with final visuals when you and your team are just putting the core concept. A kit like this can be incredibly helpful in providing low fidelity components that will help everyone focus on the flow and user experience rather than the final UI Design.
From the Creator: “A robust library of over 100 wireframing components that helps you explore more ideas, faster! Please enjoy this free library.”

Besides the ones listed here, there are thousands of available Figma resources for you to leverage during your Design Career (and many more than just UI Kits and Design Systems!).
Using these types of kits is a great way to reduce the initial burdens of a designer and focus on how to provide the most value to the business and your team.
Cheers to your great UI / UX Design Career!
